Toys & Books for Baby (Mom & Doula Approved)

montessori baby toys and books you must have, skip hop, melissa and doug, sensory play, fine motor skills, learning, fun!

It was so important to me for my daughter to have toys that promote learning, fine motor skills, sensory play and that she’ll actually use for a long time! It was also important for me to give her toys that will entertain her for longer than a couple of minutes. It was so fun to watch her explore, learn and get better at using these toys!

  1. Tummy Time Play Pad This is such a fun way to keep your baby entertained during tummy time! It promotes fun time and stability.

  2. Black & White Soft Books, Perfect for newborn babies who’s vision isn’t clear yet. I loved moving the book side to side slowly to have my baby track with her eyes and head.

  3. Montessori Nesting Dolls This were fun for her to bite on and as she got older, she started taking them apart.

  4. Rainbow Stacking Toy Great to stack and play with!

  5. Melissa & Doug Wooden Puzzle Simple, colorful and fun! My daughter used this until she was about 2.

  6. Animal Magnets Whenever I needed a few minutes to cook, wash dishes or get a snack ready, I would give my daughter her box of magnets and let her stick them to the refridgerator while I got things done in the kitchen. Once she was walking, I placed them a little higher on the fridge so that she could practice reaching on her tip toes.

  7. Jumbo Shapes Puzzle Simple, colorful and fun! My daughter used this until she was about 2.

  8. 4 in 1 Montessory Toy Box This is an item she loved for MONTHS! Her favorite one was the carrots. This toy box is great for strengthening hand-eye coordination and building fine motor skills.

  9. Soft Play Tissue Box This box has different textures of cloth including crinkle and is fun for babies! They’re also colorful and great for sensory.

  10. Disney Princess Play Laptop Perfect for Work From Home mamas! My daughter wanted to always play with my laptop since she saw me working on it often. I got her this play one and she was obsessed!

  11. Follow-Me Bee for Tummy Time and Crawling My daughter loved chasing this bee around! As soon as she was able to hold her self up on her knees and palms, we introduced this bee.

  12. Old Macdonald Finger Puppets Make sing time fun!

  13. Mega Bloks Great for stacking.
